What are Enterprise Skills?

We believe that the sooner a person starts to think about themselves from an enterprising point of view, the better, whether you are looking to start your own business or searching for a job.

Attending an Enterprise Skills course will not only give you the skills you need to get your business up and running, but also increase your confidence.

At 'Enterprising South' we see ‘enterprising’ as not just meaning starting up your own business, but also about empowering people to aim high, and having the confidence to face the challenging world in which we now live.

Furthermore, our courses help to change the mind set of individuals so they think of themselves as a ‘personal brand’ and learn how to essentially ‘sell’ themselves (i.e. their skills, qualifications and experience) as a product; an essential skill in order to progress in the business world.

Our courses are individually tailored to suit your needs which are delivered by an experienced tutor who runs 2 businesses - 'Enterprising South' and 'Countryside Cake Creations', an on-line business.  In running these businesses our tutor is in an excellent position in order to offer advice and support to you.

The course also offers the opportunity to talk to people with their own on-line businesses, and to make useful contacts for setting up your own business.

You will learn how to assess your existing skills and qualities and look at what makes a person enterprising.  We will also look at ways to market your product/service using traditional and on-line marketing methods.  You will discover how you can use social media as a tool for your business.  In addition you will learn the financial terms used in business, and how to create a cashflow forecast.  As part of the course you will be shown how to create a business plan.

Your business plan can then be used in order to access additional help from external organisations.

You will also be given information regarding funding opportunities in the Hampshire area.

Our qualifications are delivered through a well-established training organisation - DA Training and Consultancy which is based in the recently refurbished Eastleigh Business Centre.

The courses are delivered through SFEDI, UK Sector Skills Body for Enterprise.  SFEDI is a Government-recognised, not-for-profit standards awarding body for both Business Enterprise and Business Support.

SFEDI is in partnership with the Institute of Enterprise and Entrepreneurs (IOEE).  The IOEE is the UK’s only Institute dedicated to ‘learning by doing’ for anyone thinking about starting or running their own business and those who support them.

By joining the IOEE it enables like minded entrepreneurs to come together to share knowledge, experience and skills and through the study membership learners over the age of 18 will be able to take advantage of the following benefits:
